Claudia Baumann Watercolor paintings landscape, still life, portrait...

The Hotel des Berges in Illhausern, Alsace. Painting in the gardens along the river l'Ill at Hotel des Berges in Illhausern, is a never ending source of romantic inspiration in all seasons.

From my sketch book while on a painting trip to Biarritz, I am able to show the watercolours of the Hotel du Palais, and of the Villa Belza, which were a labour of love. Also the light house behind the Hotel du Palais.
These three paintings were part of a project for Deidesheimer Hof, a beautifully situated hotel in the German vineyards just across the border from Strasbourg.
Part of a project for L'Auberge at the beautiful Chateau de Berne in Lorgues, in the Var area of Provence.
The beautiful house on the right is West Manley Hall in Cheshire, particularly delightful in autumn when the Virginia Creeper changes colour and therefore even more inspiring for the artist.
The watercolour of Emmerdale actor Richard Thorp's house was painted from slightly beneath ground level. The landscape is painted from the front of Richard Thorp's house
Richard Thorp has kindly given his permission to show it here.
French windows always seem to ask to be painted: the warmth of the ochre stone on the red geranium just singing out.
The portrait of a friend's husband was enjoyable for two reasons: the setting of Barnsley Gardens and his resemblance to Pavaroti!
